We are the Exoplanet Atmospheres group, and our primary research focus is on the thermal and the chemical properties of exoplanet atmospheres, from rocky planets to gas giants. By studying the impact of high-energy stellar radiation on planetary atmospheres, we aim to understand how the chemical composition and structure of exoplanetary atmospheres evolve over time and what that might tell us about an exoplanet's habitability.
We utilise state-of-the-art observations, numerical models and machine learning tools in our research. We are involved in the science consortia of exoplanet missions such as Ariel and PLATO. Our research is currently funded by the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) and the Emerging field grant of the Faculty of Earth Sciences, Geography and Astronomy, University of Vienna.
